Firman Parlindungan is an assistant professor at University of Teuku Umar (UTU), Aceh Indonesia. He holds a Ph.D in reading and literacy from The Ohio State University, USA. His research interests focus on literacy studies, language learning strategies, multicultural pedagogy and language socialization. His current work examines Indonesian hero’s stories in children’s literature and looks at elementary students’ responses to the use of the stories in relation to their knowledge and identity construction. The research project funded by The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, The Republic of Indonesia. He is also actively involved in advocating various literacy programs in Indonesia under the auspices of The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, The Republic of Indonesia.
Firman Parlindungan adalah dosen di Universitas Teuku Umar (UTU), Aceh Indonesia. Ia meraih gelar Ph.D dalam bidang membaca dan literasi dari The Ohio State University, Amerika Serikat. Minat penelitiannya berfokus pada studi literasi, strategi pembelajaran bahasa, pedagogi multikultural, dan sosialisasi bahasa. Penelitian terbarunya saat ini mengkaji cerita pahlawan Indonesia dalam sastra anak dan melihat respon siswa terhadap penggunaan cerita tersebut dalam kaitannya dengan konstruksi pengetahuan dan identitas mereka. Penelitian ini didanai oleh Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia. Ia juga aktif terlibat dalam mendampingi berbagai program literasi di Indonesia di bawah naungan Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia.
